Lew Tolstoi fand im Haus eines Bahnhofsvorstehers den Tod. Anna Karenina stürzte sich im Wahn vor einen fahrenden Zug. Mitten im Leichenschmaus, inmitten von Gläserklingen und den leisen Tönen der Beerdigungs-Kapelle, kippt die Szenerie: Statt zu enden, wie es sich gehört, regen sich (Phantasie? Wirklichkeit?) die Verstorbenen. Damit nicht genug: Die Gäste selbst finden sich als Figuren in Annas Geschichte wieder. Akkordeon, Schlagzeug, Violine, Kontrabass und fünf Stimmen feiern die russische Seele. Großes Theater mit Musik! Oder Kabarett mit Objekten? Mit Feuer und Weihrauchschwaden aus dem Samowar macht sich Anarchie breit.

Lev Tolstoy died in the house of a stationmaster. Anna Karenina fell madly in front of a moving train. In the middle of the funeral feast, amidst the clinking of glasses and the soft sounds in the funeral chapel, the scenery begins to tilt: instead of ending as befits, the deceased begin to stir (fantasy? reality?). But that’s not all. The guests themselves find themselves as characters in Anna’s story. An accordion, drums, violin, double bass and five voices celebrate the Russian soul. Is this grand theatre with music! Or cabaret with objects? Anarchy spreads with fire and swathes of incense from the samovar.
